How old do you need to be to rent?
To operate and the pontoon boat, you need to be age 25 or older. If you are under age 25, you’ll need to add our Captain Service, so one of our captains can operate the party boat for you. While, persons of any age may use the equipment you rent, the person who rented the equipment is responsible for it. To rent other equipment you must be age 18 or older.
What information do I need to provide in order to rent?
When you check out, you’ll be prompted to provide most of the information we need. In most cases we need your name, address, phone, and email. There will be additional questions related to the rental such as when and where you want to rent and what size life preserver you need.
How do I pay for the rental?
We use Square Pay. You will get an email and/or text message invoice that you can pay by credit card.
Is there paperwork to fill out?
Yes, unfortunately the days of a handshake agreement have passed. We will email you forms you can sign electronically.
Where can I operate the pontoon boat?
We will deliver the pontoon boat to the Blacktail Reservoir Day Use area. You can find it on google maps or click the picture of the map on the left.
Do you allow pets on the party boat?
Sure! There is an additional $25 fee to bring up to two (2) pets on board, which covers the additional cleaning to remove pet fur and prints from the decking, couches and seats.
Do you have to pay a fee to get into Blacktail Day Use Area?
There is a $5.00 per day fee to enter the Blacktail Reservoir Day Use area (on weekends it cost $10). Be sure to bring CASH because the gate attendant does not take credit cards.
How will we find the party boat when we get to Blacktail?
When you arrive, just look out at the floating docks for the black pontoon boat with “Cascade Boat Rental” decals on the side. The images on the left show the two locations where you will find the boat.
Who refills the fuel tank on the pontoon boat?
We deliver the boat topped off with fuel. After you return the boat, we put it on a trailer and tow it to a fuel station. We return the fuel level to full and bill you for the fuel you use at pump prices (we don’t mark up the fuel over what we pay). The motor on the boat requires ethanol free fuel.
Where can I pick up the kayaks and stand up paddleboards (SUP’s) and how much to deliver them and pick them up afterwards?
You have a choice with this one. If you have a vehicle large enough to safely transport the kayaks or SUP’s (they are over 8 ft. long) then you can pick them up by appointment from our storage facility at 1470 Sherry Ave Idaho Falls, ID 83401. Make sure you call to arrange the appointment to meet us, because we don’t hang out there all day. Someone will help you load the equipment. You should bring tie down straps with you.
If you would like the kayak and/or SUP delivered and picked up, we will meet you with them at one of four locations. Those four locations are:
1. The Idaho Falls Snake River Boat launch near River Parkway and Landbank St. Click on the image on the left for directions (FREE DELIVERY AND PICK UP).

Well, probably, but if you are super sized, we might not. In any case, we will do our best to accommodate you with the sizes we have. We stock every size from infant up to XXXL life preservers. A questionnaire at check out will ask you for your life preserver size.

Yes, by appointment, you can hire a boat captain for the pontoon boat at $195 for up to 8 hours. Please make your reservations at least 24 hours in advance to ensure the captain is available. This service is based on availability of the captain, but we will strive to accomodate your group.
Is there cell service on Blacktail Reservoir?
In most places, no, but there are some magical spots where you can get a weak signal like up by the dam. I recommend you download the google map for Blacktail Reservoir before you arrive, so that it is on you mobile device already. You can google how to do that (its not hard). That way, you can see where you are on the reservoir. Also, take screen shots of any information from websites that you may need to refer to on the water.
